One thing I got totally sick of dealing with when I was acting was NERVES.
It’s a sucky feeling, amiright?
You sit there in the waiting room of an audition wishing you could just calm yourself down already.
Well, let’s start with this statement:
Feeling nervous isn’t the end of the world.
EVERYONE IS NERVOUS. (Click HERE to GET AUDITION TIPS from the CASTING DIRECTOR OF TYLER PERRY STUDIOS.)
It’s okay to be nervous.
That said, you don’t want it to take over and get in the way of your mad talent.
So how do we make sure that doesn’t happen?
Here’s my #1 tip for NERVE control: GET IN AN IMPROV CLASS.
An improv class will FORCE you to come out of your shell.
It demands that you make a fool out of yourself over an over again.
It asks you to take risks.
IT PUTS YOU IN A POSITION IN WHICH YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT!
Sure, but over time it becomes second nature.
And when that happens, the fun begins.
And when the fun begins, you aren’t so nervous anymore.
Try it out and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
What do you have to lose??
